Zambia name final 2012 Africa Cup of Nations squad

Zambia coach Herve Renard has named his final 23-man squad  for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The squad has a blend of experience and young talent, and the Chipolopolo will feel confident that they can make a splash at the tournament with a strong selection of players who are motivated to do their best.

Given Singuluma and Justine Zulu were left out of the squad, while Thomas Nyirenda is forced to watch his team from the sidelines with a knee injury keeping him from taking part in the upcoming Afcon. Jacob Mulenga’s recovery from knee surgery has also prevented him from taking part in the 2012 Afcon.

At the press conference where he announced his team, Renard said, "We can play against anybody. We can compete against anyone,” Renard added: “We have worked very hard these past weeks and the squad is ready for any competitor. We are focused, disciplined and working hard. We are in the final phase and now we have our final 23.”

Zambia are currently in South Africa where they are preparing for the continent’s biggest football extravaganza. They are placed in Group A alongside co-hosts Equatorial Guinea, Libya and Senegal.
