Considered to be quite a coup for City when they flexed their financial muscles&nbsp;in 2011 to land one of the deadliest strikers on the planet from Atletico Madrid.
The Argentina international settled immediately in new surroundings, netting twice on his debut, and has now found the target 199&nbsp;times in just 292&nbsp;appearances. Last season he became&nbsp;City's all-time leading goalscorer, and&nbsp;his name was already written in City folklore after scoring a last-gasp goal to snatch the title away from Man Utd in 2011/12.

Sergio Aguero | £38 million 

The France centre-back joined City in 2014 but only ever showed glimpses of his ability as he struggled to lead the defence in the way which was expected when he signed from Porto.
His fee was initially reported as £32m but City later confirmed that they had also paid £10m to third parties to comply with Premier League regulations.

Mangala has been a bit-part player for Guardiola and is likely to leave the club this summer, after spending the second half of the last campaign on loan at Everton.

Eliaquim Mangala | £42 million

After struggling to make an impact at boyhood club Benfica, he saw his potential unlocked in France with Monaco&nbsp;to earn himself a big-money move to England in the summer of 2017.
Only three players under the age of 23 provided more assists in the 2017-18&nbsp;season, but the Portugal international was overshadowed somewhat by the exploits of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling in his first year at City after starting just 15 of his 35 league appearances.

Bernardo Silva | £43 million 

Completed a controversial switch to the Etihad Stadium in 2015 after making it clear to those at Liverpool that he no longer wished to be part of the&nbsp;project at Anfield.
Has faced accusations of lacking an end product at times, but reached double figures in terms of goals scored in his first two seasons at the Etihad and pushed on again in 2017-18 under Pep Guardiola, grabbing 23 goals in all competitions which saw him nominated for the Young Player of the Year award.

The 23-year-old was scrutinised again in the lead up to the World Cup after it was revealed he has a <a href="http://www.goal.com/en/news/sterling-focused-on-world-cup-after-tattoo-tabloid-storm/1800ye4udxnj14fh0d6bdjrze" target="_blank">tattoo of a rifle on his leg</a>, but he has been an influential figure for England in Russia.

Raheem Sterling | £44 million 

Kyle Walker&nbsp;moved from London to Manchester for a&nbsp;record fee for a full-back in the summer of 2017 after eight seasons with Tottenham.&nbsp;
A regular for England, Walker impressed in his debut season at City after making 32 league appearances to&nbsp;fill the void left by the departures of&nbsp;Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna.&nbsp;

His initial £45m was also supplemented by around £5m in achievable add-ons.

Kyle Walker | £45 million 

Considered to be the pick of an emerging crop of English defenders after breaking through at Barnsley and furthering his career at Everton.
Can often be accused of over-playing, which has&nbsp;remained an issue within his game since joining City in 2016, but has improved a lot under the guidance of Pep Guardiola and has been a key figure for England at the World Cup.

John Stones | £47.5 million

After spending one season at Monaco,&nbsp;Benjamin Mendy made the move to Pep Guardiola's side, becoming the&nbsp;world's most expensive defender at the time.
The left-back, renowned for his crossing abilities, missed most of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and only made six league appearances.

The France international still managed to endear himself with the City fans with his social media posts throughout the season and is set to be a key player for them in the 2018-19 campaign.

Benjamin Mendy | £52 million 

Snapped up from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015 having rebuilt his career in Germany following a forgettable spell at Chelsea in which he was starved of regular first-team outings.
Returned to England as one of European football’s top creative talents and he has topped the Premier League assist&nbsp;charts in each of the last two seasons, and&nbsp;just missed out on the Player of the Year award to Mo Salah this year.&nbsp;

Kevin De Bruyne | £54 million 

Laporte was snapped up by City from Athletic&nbsp;Bilbao in January 2018 to become the second most expensive defender ever behind Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.
He made 13 appearances for City at&nbsp;the back end of the season, but is yet to play for&nbsp;France's senior team&nbsp;and is not included in their World Cup squad.

Expect to see Laporte make a much bigger impact next season in his first full year in Manchester.&nbsp;

Aymeric Laporte | £57 million 

City had initially tried to sign the 2016 Premier League winner in the 2018 January transfer window, but Leicester held firm in the face of interest and a transfer request from Mahrez.
However, Pep Guardiola retained his interest in the Algerian winger and was finally able to land his man a few months later as Mahrez became City's club-record signing.
