Golden Boot winners: Every World Cup top goalscorer from 1930-2014

Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez claimed the Golden Boot after scoring six goals throughout the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, despite his side getting knocked out in the quarter-finals by the host nation.
In the current competition James has failed to score for Colombia and during their crucial group game against Senegal he had to be substituted in the 31st minute due to injury.

Thomas Muller scored five goals for the German national team during the 2010 World Cup, assisting in his side finishing third in the tournament. During the 2014 World Cup, Muller also won the Silver Boot after netting five goals which contributed to Germany lifting the World Cup.
Although one of the favourites at this year's tournament, Muller didn't score any goals and Germany were knocked out during the group stages after a 2-0 loss to South Korea.&nbsp;

Hristo Stoichkov helped Bulgaria reach the semi-finals of the World Cup with his six goals, while Oleg Salenko set a World Cup record by scoring five goals in one game in Russia's 6–1 win against Cameroon and once versus Sweden. Salenko is the only player to have won the Golden Boot with a team eliminated from the World Cup finals at the group stage.

In total,&nbsp;89 goals were scored by 54 different players during the entire competition.&nbsp;
