Afcon 2019: What Kenya learnt from the win against Tanzania

This is the painful truth. Philemon Otieno struggled against Algeria and his positioning was at fault for their&nbsp;second goal. Against Tanzania, David Owino - who plays as a center-back, was started at right-back and was at fault for the two goals conceded. It is a problem which needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

Kenya has no reliable right-back

The Sweden-based ace played 90 minutes for Harambee Stars against Tanzania and he never disappointed. His energy was encouraging and he tried to push forward whenever he got an opportunity to do so. The technical bench must be biting their fingers with regrets for not starting him against Algeria.

Eric Ouma deserves a starting berth

The midfielder is talented, nobody can deny that, but twice he has failed to deliver for Harambee Stars in the big stage and was substituted. Whether he will start the final game against Senegal is anyone's guess, but his displays have been wanting at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Joseph Okumu is the future

The Belgium-based player brought the much-needed composure in the midfield and helped captain Victor Wanyama to run the show. He was not afraid to commit when needed to. Even when others had given up, he believed and scored a vital leveller which put Kenya on course to record a 3-2 win against Tanzania.

Omollo is the real midfield anchor-man

The striker once again rose to the occasion when he was much-needed by his teammates and the country at large. His two goals were magical, and they came in the right time, when most had given up. He will be the main man for Kenya in the final Group C game against Senegal. If you want a goal, it is simple, pass Olunga the ball.
