Afcon 2019: Head-to-Head - South Africa vs. Namibia

Namibia stunned South Africa 3-2 in extra-time in their first ever meeting which was the 1998 Cosafa Cup qualifying round match. Stanley Goagoseb, Bimbo Tjihero and Berlin Auchumeb all scored for the Brave Warriors, while Philemon Masinga and Thabo Mooki netted for Bafana Bafana in Windhoek.

South Africa met Namibia in the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group C match in Burkina Faso. Four-goal hero Benni McCarthy inspired Bafana Bafana to a 4-1 victory over the Brave Warriors, who grabbed a consolation goal through Simon Uutoni.

The two Southern African sides clashed in the 1999 Cosafa Cup quarter-finals and the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw. Pollen Ndlanya opened the scoring for Bafana Bafana, but the Brave Warriors equalized through Johannes Hindjou and Namibia went on to win 4-1 on penalties in Windhoek.

South Africa took on Namibia in an interational friendly match in Windhoek in August 2006. Katlego Mashego's second half goal handed Bafana Bafana a narrow 1-0 win over the Brave Warriors.

The two neighbours locked horns in another international friendly match in March 2010. Rudolf Bester fired Namibia into the lead, but Katlego Mphela ensured that the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate when he scored the equalizing goal in Durban.

South Africa took on Namibia in the 2013 Cosafa Cup quarter-final match in Zambia. Two goals from Hlompho Kekana and Jabulani Shongwe helped Bafana Bafana secure a 2-1 victory over the Brave Warriors, who scored through Willy Stephanus.

The two teams renewed their rivalry in the 2017 Cosafa Cup which was hosted by South Africa. Mohau Mokate's first half goal earned Bafana Bafana a narrow 1-0 victory over the Brave Warriors in a plate final.

2017 Cosafa Cup - Mokate fires Bafana past Namibia 

The last meeting between Bafana Bafana and the Brave Warriors took place in the 2018 Cosafa Cup in South Africa. Bafana emerged 4-1 winners in a plate semi-final clash thanks to goals from Aubrey Modiba, Lebohang Maboe (brace) and Siyanda Xulu, while Deon Hotto grabbed the Brave Warriors' consolation goal.
